THESPIAN HOURS
How to Submit Your Thespian Hours Step by Step
Be sure to start tracking your hours as soon as you start a production! This will make things so much easier for you! (and it will help you get your hours turned in on time)
1. Go to the theatre website www.hspvatheatre.com
2. Click on Current Students (found on the left-hand side of the homepage)
3. The password is Onstage1234 (do not share this with anyone outside of the department unless they are also tracking thespian hours)
4. Click on Thespian Hours Tracking Sheet
5. Start tracking your hours!
Print out the hours tracking form (as many papers as you need to record all the hours of the productions within the six weeks) to handwrite your hours for the production(s) you’re working on.
You might have multiple papers printed out with hours written in, so make sure all information is filled out on each page and staple your papers together.
6. Turn in your hours to the designated thespian hours tray in the theatre hallway.
6. Watch your inbox for an email confirmation!
Papers can get lost and I don’t want anyone missing out on their hard-earned thespian hours! If you haven’t heard back from me within 48 hours of submitting your hours, please email me at s2064413@online.houston.org to let me know with a simple “Hey, I turned in my hours to you on (day)”. In your email, please specify when you turned in your hours and I’ll get back to you! Thank you!
How can I track my thespian hours if I’m not in the theatre department?
If you participate in an all-school musical (behind the scenes or on stage) or work any theatre volunteer opportunity, just reach out to savycoyne@gmail.com to get the Thespian Hours Tracking Sheet or go to the theatre classroom to find a printed-out Thespian Hours Tracking Sheet. The sooner you start tracking your hours, the better! Submit those tracked hours as soon as you can! They’re due to the theatre classroom by the Friday after you’ve finished the specified All-School Musical or volunteer opportunity.
What are the benefits of tracking my thespian hours, if I’m not in theatre?
If you reach 100 thespian hours, you are eligible to be inducted into the Thespian Society at the end of the school year!! When you get to that 100-hour benchmark and want to be a Thespian, reach out to savycoyne@gmail.com to get started with that process.
When are hours due?
Every completed Thespian Hours Tracking Sheet is due by the Friday after each production ends. (example: If the All-School Musical has strike afterschool on Monday and Tuesday, your hours sheet is due that Friday.)
I have downloaded the Thespian Hours Tracking Sheet pdf, but I don’t have a printer at home. How can I print this out?
The HSPVA library (located on the 4th floor) has a printer. The first five pages you print are free of charge. After the fifth page, each printed page costs 50¢
If I’m in theatre, what is the minimum number of hours that I have to work theatre crew?
The required theatre hours are 32 hours for Level 1, 32 hours for Level 2, 30 for Level 3, and 30 for Level 4. For the lower levels, these hours are automatically achieved as part of an after school “crew” where you help with theatre productions for a period of six weeks. Any other hours earned help you reach the 100-hour milestone to be inducted into the thespian society!
As a theatre student, what is the benefit of working more than just my required crew hours?
After you have worked your required crew hours, you can keep earning thespian hours to reach 100 hours to be inducted into the thespian society! (you can be inducted in any grade level at HSPVA)
