EMOTIONAL RESPONSE PRESENTATION

AUDITION NOTICE

  • Be prepared to sing 32 bars of music in the jazz, golden age musical theatre, or vaudeville style THAT SHOWS YOUR VOCAL RANGE - this musical is uncomplicated, innocent, sincere, and not at all ironic

  • Bring your own sheet music; an accompanist will be provided

  • Callbacks will be by invitation only and will consist of a dance call in the tap and 1920’s jazz dance style - I’m choreographing, Joshua O’Daniel Denning

  • After the dance call another cut will be made and the remaining auditionees will read short scenes and monologues for roles

  • THANK YOU!

DESIGNER INTERVIEWS

Create an elevator pitch that highlights your skills and unique design point of view:

  • COSTUMES: head to toe costume design for two contrastins characters (age, status, location)

  • SETS: scenic design for one setting

  • LIGHTING: a collage of cinematography images that transport me to the world of the musical as you envision it through light

  • PROPS: prop design presentation detailing at least 4 iconic props from the 1920s - a hand prop, a diegetic (story-telling) prop that could be featured on the set, a costume prop (different than the hand prop), and furniture prop (stylish 1920’s art deco furniture preferred)

  • SOUND: sound designers should prepare a 1-2 minute audio collage that immerses the listener in the frivolous jazz-infused world of the 1920s

  • ALL DESIGNERS: be prepared to discuss each image (or sound), how it was created and why it was used

  • THANK YOU!
